Whatsapp Disappearing message and End to End Encryption

Welcome to TechWibe, in this post we will show you how we can save our Whatsapp storage and protect your data. What’s new? There have been two new updates to space-saving tools and encryption tools.

The first thing they have offered is the option of turning on Disappearing in Tool to save space. In this post, you can see how to use the Disappearing message.

1, Whatsapp Disappearing message

Open Whatsapp first and then tap on the three-dot in the top right corner.

After clicking on the three dot, you will be given an option called settings. Click on Settings and scroll down to the bottom.

As you scroll down, you will see Storage&data listed below. Click on it. On the first screen, click Manage Storage.

On the next page, you will see Tools to save space. We got the new WhatsApp with this update. Turn on the Disappearing message option.

In the following section, they provide a default message timer. After setting the deletion time, click on Default message timer and set the time when we want the message to disappear.

There are three types of options for disappearing message:

  • 24 hours,
  • 7 days,
  • 90 days

Choose the day on which you want the message to appear as shown here.

It is set to be 24 hours a day, for example.

When you click on Apply time to chats, only the specified person can chat the mes

With Apply time to chats, you can select exactly who you are even if the messages disappear.

For example, if you have more than one contact person in your chat, you cannot delete them one by one. Thus, it is enough to set this timing and select this contact.

It will be deleted within 24 hours. Hence, this tool is provided as a way to save space.

The majority of messages and videos come from this group, so I selected it. You can select more message groups this way.

I’ve selected a few groups. Let’s check how the Disappearing messages are working now.

On the profile picture page of any group and all contacts, you will see a timer symbol, which indicates that the message set is disappearing.

Once you have set disappearing for a particular contact or group in Whatsapp, all messages or videos sent within 24 hours will remain in your Whatsapp for 24 hours, then they will be deleted. This disappearing message is provided by WhatsApp so we can save the storage in whatsapp.

2, Whatsapp End to End Cryption

In the second update, WhatsApp introduces a new privacy.

Before we see what privacy update is, let’s see what end to end encrypted means.

Whatsapp’s end-to-end encryption ensures complete security for chats, audio and video calls.

As an example, if you are sending a message from sender to receiver and another person is the receiver, their data cannot be accessed. There is no way for a third party to see your video or audio chat. Whatsapp provides end-to-end encryption for this reason.

You can see in the image above that messages sent from UserA to UserB go first to the Whatsapp server, then to the recipient.

A public key and a private key are used in these end-to-end crypts.

Publickey

A publickey is the means by which data(messages, audio, video) is transmitted between a user and a server.

Private key

Private keys are created when you forward an accessible message audio video to another person and they play it.

Let’s see how publickeys and privatekeys are used. Encryption will be used to protect the message you access.

Encryptions are in a coding format that no one understands. Decryption means changing the encoding format of the same encrypts into normal reading format

How a message sent by User A reaches User B

Whatsapp locks messages when they reach the server. From UserA, click on Lock when you go to the Whatsapp server. This lock prevents hackers and third parties from hacking. In fact, WhatsApp is said not to read data between senders and receivers.

User A sends an encrypted message to the WhatsApp server, which converts it into a format User B can read.

The status option has the following information: Your status updates are end-to-end encrypted. According to them, all of the statuses you upload are very safe.

  • Text and voice messages
  • Audio and video calls
  • Photos and Videos Documents
  • Location sharing
  • status updates

Above all end to endcrypt they say that everything is safe and they keep updating to new ones.

If you want to know more clearly about End to End applications, just click on the Learnmore application and select your browser.

In a way, they have brought end-to-end encryption to everything, including chats, statuses and calls.

It is now possible to have end-to-end encrypted chats as well.

Linked Device End to End encrypted

In WhatsApp, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and then select Linked Device.

In the same way, using another device to connect on WhatsApp web is end-to-end encrypted.

Your connection will only be with the person you are sharing with. There is no way for anyone to steal or hack your data between now and then.

This WhatsApp side has all the new features.
